Reconstructive Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?
Sorry, we do not accept insurance.
How much do reconstructive nipple tattoos cost?
Cosmetic tattoos are usually more expensive than conventional tattoos, but we are so honored to provide this much-needed service that we charge an affordable reduced rate. Contact Amanda Pepper through phone or email to get an estimate or for more information. If you choose to include a design, this would be at an additional charge that will be determined at a consultation appointment.
How do I set an appointment?
Contact Amanda Pepper through email to set a consultation appointment first.
When will I be ready for my nipple tattoos?
We recommend waiting at least 9-12 months from your most recent surgery before getting tattooed. This allows the scar tissue enough time to heal, and reduces the risk of more scarring.
What should I bring with me to my appointment?
Bring your ID for paperwork. Wear a shirt that opens from the front, with a zipper or buttons. You can wear a bra or not, whatever is more comfortable for you. You may bring a friend or two with you if you'd like.
How long does the appointment last?
Including paperwork and setup, you can expect your appointment to last 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash or credit card. Sorry, no checks.
What is the aftercare process for a tattoo?
The healing time for a tattoo is 2-4 weeks. Wash your tattoo 3-4 times a day with antibacterial liquid soap (like dial or softsoap). Lightly moisturize as needed with a fragrance free hand lotion (like lubriderm or aquaphor).
Do not scratch or pick at your tattoo, go swimming or soak in a tub, or expose your tattoo to prolonged sun until it is healed. Your tattoo artist will talk with you about what to expect with healing and will be happy to provide you with printed aftercare instructions. Everyone's skin heals differently, please ask us if you have any questions or concerns.
Good to know:
Scar tissue or skin that has been radiated can be unpredictable with healing, some people may take longer to heal or experience irregularity in color. You may or may not need a touchup after your tattoos are completely healed, which is free of charge.
Ask your surgeon if tattooing may be a good option for you.
